Attending the academic event were representatives from the Department of Research and International Affairs, led by Dr. Duong Van Thao, Head of the Department, together with the senior leadership of IBFT: Dr. Luong Hung Tien (Director), Dr. Tran Van Chi (Deputy Director), and Dr. Nguyen Xuan Vu (Deputy Director), as well as many faculty members, students of IBFT, and other participants.
During the meeting, the main agenda items included:
- Introduction to TUAF and IBFT, highlighting their roles as pioneering institutions in biotechnology and food technology education, research, and application in the midland and northern regions of Vietnam.
- An academic presentation by Professor Cheng-Yen Kao entitled “From Basic Microbiology Research to Applied Microbiology: Utilizing Probiotics and Bacteriophages for Therapy and Disease Improvement”, offering new perspectives on the application of microbes in health and disease control.
- Collaborative discussion: both sides exchanged information on postgraduate scholarship opportunities at NYCU and Taiwan for TUAF students, shared research experiences, and explored long-term cooperation in microbiology, biotechnology, and food technology.
Following the presentation and discussion, Professor Kao toured the advanced laboratories of IBFT and the Institute of Basic Sciences to evaluate TUAF’s research capabilities and infrastructure further.
At the event, leadership from IBFT affirmed: “Collaboration with world-class professors and scientists such as Professor Cheng-Yen Kao will contribute to improving research and training quality, expanding international opportunities for students and researchers of the university in general and IBFT in particular.”
The program concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere, marking the beginning of promising collaborative activities between Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan for the upcoming period.
